DAY 10 - break

I am back!

So there has been quite a gap in this. I'm pleased to say it has been beneficial as it has made me realise my need for a new website. It has also made me realise the need for deadlines. A lot of research has already been carried out and I have started on a new plan to actually get it built. Was it a coincidence that the new plan was 30 days long? I don't know but it is a format that works!

1. SKETCH IT - 2 days - by 28/3 DONE
Sketch out what pages I need, how each will look and the flow.

2. LEARN TO DO IT - 3 days - 31/3 IN PROGRESS
Work out how to put my sketches on to the screen

3. DO IT - 10 days - 10/4
Transmogrify content from old site, brain, imagination and lightroom to new site

4. TRANSFER - 5 days - 15/4
Get assistance with transferring the new site to the domain

and because I have commissioned work to do during this period I have allowed a tolerance and put an end date of 25/4. This means I can shift task sections in time but still get them done in a focused period with a dead line.

It is all go and all exciting!

As always a picture from this week from another brilliant wedding client meeting...

DAY 09

Lots of thought about this programme and ....

For the next stage I really need to put in a large chunk of work instead of just 10 mins per day
As it turns out I also have 6 full days of photograph work and meetings to attend (all good, busy times!).

So I have decided to pause this programme for 6 days and for the 10 mins for each day missed I will put it all in when I'm back. So that will give me an hour long chunk to get it all done. Here is what I hope to and need to achieve:

  • Create some content for the course. Either a program or a guide/slide show.
  • Create a facebook group, start sharing useful content, photos and quotes. Tips of the day maybe.
  • Create a course plan: Mini intro talk, workshop: Fundamentals, workshop: Practical, Live shoot on location, mixture of the two, put your skills to the test (ideally users of DSLR, other interchangeable lens cameras and similar)
  • Create marketing for the courses

And so that is my bit done for today. Now I best crack on with the work!

Random photo of the day. When I saw this scene in the Royal Festival Hall London I wondered if these two were perhaps chatting online to one another and unaware they were so close!

DAY 08

Well not a lot of new stuff but I spent my time reformatting the page so I could add pictures to it. I don't think it is enough.

What I need to do is
add a few typical photos for each of the categories I have set:
  • Landscapes
  • Travel - stories
  • Street - people
  • Portraiture, family, likely to be children
  • Portraiture, singular, themed
  • Pets

Programmes/Slides/Agenda

Then I also need to actually sit and write out the training program. even if it is just notes for me and slides, example photos, to show the group.
I have one for landscapes that I have already done so find that and add new images.

Do one for street photography to use for travel/street: story, composition and light.

Set the magazine assignment or the group and create the magazine (blurb)

So all these tasks are to be added to the list:

1. Add relevant photos to the webpage
2. Create a marketing flyer suitable for posting to social media
3. Create a workshop programme, notes, slides or the agenda. (magazine assignment)
4. One I keep forgetting - create a practical class based on photograph (exposure triangle)

Instead of a random pic for today here is the link to the webpage so far. As you can see, it needs a better variety of photos, this was done quick!

DAY 07

So tiny bits of progress today, battling through everything else too!
I decided that rather than dump everything on people all of a sudden I'd start the introductions to it all now.

I made a post to my facebook page today:

I have some really exciting things coming up and they involve you too.
Posted by Adam de-Ste-Croix : Photographer on Saturday, 6 February 2016

I think that it is wise for me to next layout 75% of it all in the back ground ready as I slowly introduce the idea. Then by the time it is all ready to launch there will hopefully be a following AND I will have a lot of it at the ready.

Im think so a menu system for the web site so something like:

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS
 - Intro
Some text about; this is more experiences than just plain old workshops
- Chapter 1 - Local classes and practical assignments
This will be about gaining camera knowledge and building skills
Also a mention of 1:1 tuition
- Chapter 2 - UK adventures
- Chapter 3 - European adventures

I have cut a lot of this text for now but it is build up in the back ground
So ends today's update!
Have a good weekend.

Here is your random photo!
Blogger allows me to scan any photo ever taken with my phone. This one is of a letterbox I saw in Barcelona :)

DAY 06

Yesterday I said I would focus more on two things.
- Content
- Marketing

So to do a bit of both I have built...

A new page on my Website for Photography Workshops

Unfortunately my website server is down this evening, typical! I wanted to link the new page here but instead I will have to enter the text I created for it:
UPDATE! My website is working but slow tonight. You can try this link to view my new Photography Workshops page before I launch it or you can read it all below.

Sainte Croix photography training, workshops, tuition…. EXPERIENCES!
In 2014 I ran successful photograph workshops for those looking to get into photography. Since then I have been offering 1:1 tuition and it has been great fun But now things are afoot…
In the background I have been secretly building a whole new way to do it. (Not so secret now is it!). I want to provide people with great experiences. I want you to be able to leave one of these experiences with memories of great times, new friends and fantastic photos on your memory card  with the knowledge of how to make more. I want it to be awesome with a feeling of great accomplishment and at the top of all the values, fun. People will leave these photography experiences with a big smile on their face.
So I shall continue to build it (not so secretly) and if you are interested in this keep ‘em peeled on one of my social feeds or better still pop your email address here.
I’ll give you more info as it is created and may ask you for your input too, find out what you want and need (though from all the tuition I have lots of great ideas for that)

What will follow this is a form to register interest with a couple of basic questions:

My prime key issue to learn in photography is...My key takeaway from a photography experience is:....

- My key takeaway from a photography experience is:...

From these two I should also gather an idea of what people want.

Hopefully in the morning my site will be fully operational again and I can link the page to here. But for now it is photo time! F
or a change I'm going to show one from instagram. Being instagram it has to be a selfie, so here is me! And a link to it on instagram too...

DAY 05

I've read through everything I have done so far and it is a lot of planning. What is lacking is some doing! So or my 10 minutes of each day there are just two areas I need to focus on.

- Content

- Marketing

Once these two are complete the rest of the detail can be organised..

A note about the 30 Day Challenge:

When it says 10 minutes per day it isn't restrict to that, the time allocated is just a bare minimum. It is so easy to "not have enough time" but everyone can squeeze 10 extra minutes into their day. I find that with this philosophy I am more likely to get something done and once started will sometimes find maybe 2 hours to get things done when I thought I had no time at all!

Quick random photo (using blogger allows me to select them from my phone with out even switching my phone on!)
This little Dackie is a friend I met in Barcelona on a photography adventure :)

DAY 04

I have used my allocated 30DC time today to write a full list of what would be required in the training and a full list of ever workshop idea. Merging these lists together has formed the base for the first 3 main workshops.

  • - Landscapes
  • - Street
  • - Travel
Further workshops could include portraiture, families, pets, holidays and more but these fist classes will touch on all those elements too.

It has also made me consider the marketing for these and that it will eventually need a different website. But before putting in all that effort I could run a page on my current website to handle it all.
I think a facebook group is a better idea for this than a facebook page, at least to get things started.

Tasks completed:

-Write a list of all possible class types-Convert list into worthy classes and use the lists wording for marketing

Tasks added

- build a web page on current website to announce the classes.
- create a facebook group for the workshops and training.

We need a photo for the day too! I will see what comes up on the random generator (that is me flicking through my photos ultra quick!).
.... Ha! This one form the phone came up! its been a hard few days work and I feel like collapsing like Indy the cat!
